Measures to combat global warming, such as energy savings (reduction of fossil fuel consumption) and reduced greenhouse gas emissions have emerged as major themes attracting the attention of society today. Among its efforts to strengthen these measures, Farmind installed a photovoltaic power generation system in the Hiroshima Center (Kusatsuko, Nishi-ku, Hiroshima City) in April 2011.We subsequently installed photovoltaic power generation systems in the Koriyama Center, Nagoya Center and Kobe Center as well.
In consideration of the environment, Farmind adopted a uniform of white coats and caps as part of a carbon-offset program at its fresh-cut fruit processing centers in late 2010. Embroidered with the Farmind logo and corporate name, the uniforms are worn by all center personnel.
Carbon offset refers to compensation for a portion of greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2, which are unavoidable in human economic activities and daily life, that are difficult to reduce through conservation efforts by supporting measures such as tree-planting, forest preservation and clean energy businesses.
Farmind contributed by offsetting 7,308 kg of CO2 emissions in 2014 alone.
