Farmind President and CEO, Tatsuo Horiuchi, attended the completion ceremony of RD&D Cold Logistics' Dalin Center ～Connects Japan and Taiwan through a cold chain～
The Taiwanese cold-chain logistics company, RD&D Cold Logistics Co., Ltd. (headquarter: Guanyin district, Taoyuan city; Chairman: Hsuchu Chen; hereafter, "RD&D"), which had the capital and technical alliance with Farmind Corporation (Headquarter: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tatsuo Horiuchi; hereafter "Farmind"), established one of the largest cold-chain centers in Taiwan and Farmind's president and CEO, Tatsuo Horiuchi attended the completion ceremony on November 21, 2022.
RD&D has 13 cold chain distribution centers throughout Taiwan and operates one of Taiwan's largest third-party logistics businesses and is currently one of the highest in Taiwan in this field. Farmind provides RD&D its technologies and operational know-how centered on fruit and vegetable ripening and processing to further advance and solidify fruit and vegetable cold chain distribution bases in Taiwan and Japan. Both companies launched a full-fledged alliance in June 2019 with the aim of ensuring a stable supply of high-quality fruits and vegetables, reducing food loss, and the burden on production areas by solving problems and improving efficiency in the distribution in Taiwan and Japan. After the alliance, RD&D established first International cold chain logistics center in Pingdong prefecture, and a large-scale cold chain center in Dalin in September 2022. Under the support of the Taiwanese Government, RD&D constructed this center in the regions where agricultural crops are actively produced, and this is a joint project between the public and private sectors that can reduce the burden on production areas.
- At the completion ceremony, Farmind President, Tatsuo Horiuchi, commented as follows:
"I believe that it is really wonderful to join hands and hands between Taiwan and Japan in order to connect the import and export of vegetables and fruits through a cold chain. In importing Taiwanese vegetables and fruits as well as exporting Japanese vegetables and fruits to Taiwan, we would like to make use of this cold chain so that we can deliver fresh vegetables and fruits."
In the future, in order to realize a supply chain that maintains the supply and demand balance of high-quality vegetables and fruits, the Dalin center will utilize the technology of Farmind and work as a next-generation center by utilizes new technologies such as vacuum precooling of vegetables and ripening of fruit such as banana and avocado.
