Farmind Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tatsuo Horiuchi; hereafter, “Farmind”) is pleased to announced that Farmind made Hokkaido Sanchoku Center Inc. (Head Office: Sapporo, Hokkaido; President and CEO: Morihisa Dewa; hereafter, “Hokkaido Sanchoku Center”) a wholly owned subsidiary on May 31, 2021.
Hokkaido Sanchoku Center invests in agricultural corporations, provides production guidance, and purchases and sales of the products. Its agricultural subsidiary mainly cultivates broccoli relays at 5 production area, their total production area is approximately 1,100 hectares, which is the largest scale in open-air production in Japan.
To respond to the diversification of sales channels in the fruits and vegetables distribution, Farmind are strengthening its cold chains constituted by its 14 processing centers nationwide, which manages temperature from goods arrival at its center to the shipment, while expanding the handling of domestic fruits and vegetables, as well as imported fruits and vegetables such as bananas. Farmind is also promoting the integrated logistics (efficient delivery through the mixed loading of multiple fruits and vegetables.)
With regard to the management integration with Hokkaido Sanchoku Center, to aim for full-scale entry into the open-air production business for vegetables, Farmind will aim to make Hokkaido Shanchoku Center to further expedite its management decisions and make stabilize management by making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
In addition, Farmind group will expand production areas and products in collaboration with Hokkaido Sanchoku Center, aiming to create multi-faceted synergies among Farmind group.
Based on Farmind’s corporate philosophy of "linking farmers with consumers", Farmind will continue to strengthen the supply system of fruits and vegetables in Japan and overseas and improve the quality through its nationwide cold chains, deliver fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables from farms to consumers, and contribute to the development of domestic and overseas fruits and vegetables distribution from various perspectives.
