Connecting the Cold Chain to Deliver High-Quality Taiwanese Pineapples to Japan
Farmind × AEON Hokkaido × Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture "Taiwan Pineapple Sales Expansion" Event Held
Farmind Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and COO: Itaru Kobayashi, hereinafter "Farmind"), a comprehensive distribution company which holding a nationwide cold chain for fruits and vegetables, delivers numerous fresh and delicious domestic and foreign fruits to Japanese market such as bananas, avocados, and apples.
On April 25th (Friday), Farmind's Executive Officer Katsunari Iida and AEON Hokkaido Corporation's Executive Officer Masaki Shirato invited Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture's Deputy Minister Chung-Yi Hu (equivalent to Japan's Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) to hold a tasting and sales event aimed at strengthening sales and conveying the deliciousness of "Taiwan Pineapples" to more consumers.
Taiwanese pineapples are loved by many Japanese consumers for their softness to the core, sweetness, and juiciness. We will continue to leverage Farmind's proud cold chain technology to stabilize high quality and collaborate with local partners to ensure that even more delicious Taiwanese pineapples can be enjoyed by everyone in Japan. We will also continue to propose products that adapt to changes in the social environment, starting with the expansion of sales of easy-to-eat cut pineapples.
Taiwanese pineapples saw a surge in demand in Japan in 2021, thanks to the support of many people, and are now becoming established as a popular spring fruit. AEON Hokkaido is also actively working on sales, offering not only whole ""ball sales"" but also cut products for easy consumption. We have received favorable reviews for being ""soft and sweet to the core,"" and the number of customers purchasing them annually has been increasing. We will continue to value our relationship with Taiwan and provide delicious pineapples to more customers through various sales initiatives.
In Taiwan, the Ministry of Agriculture is actively promoting traceability and guiding sorting facilities and farmer groups to improve collection, packaging procedures, and quality control to stably export high-quality pineapples. Under these efforts, the export volume to Japan reached 19,373 tons in 2024. We hope that more stores will handle our products in the future and that we will receive high praise from Japanese consumers.
Farmind's ""Taiwan Sweet Pine"" is an original variety unique to Taiwan, pursuing high sugar content. The ideal climate with strong sunlight in summer and large temperature differences in winter results in strong sweetness, golden flesh, and deliciousness to the core. We deliver from Taiwan's two major production areas, Pingtung and Kaohsiung, to Japan at the most delicious time. Our staff are stationed in Taiwan year-round to emphasize traceability and ensure thorough temperature control, including pre-cooling. We strengthen collaboration with local partners to connect the production area to consumers through the cold chain, providing fresh and high-quality products.

Farmind is strengthening the cold chain network that supports the distribution of fruits and vegetables between Japan and Taiwan, by partnering with Taiwanese government agencies and local companies.
This year marks the fifth year of selling "Taiwan Pine" in Japan, Farmind will continue to provide more fresher and tastier pineapples.
Farmind will continue to endeavor to expand the scale of cold chain in the Asian market, in order to be able to stably supply fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables to more consumers.
